Marine Servicing

Servicing Life Saving Equipment To Keep You Safe At Sea

Marine servicing keeps your safety equipment ready when it matters most. At Lifting Gear and Safety, we inspect, service and certify lifejackets, liferafts, immersion suits and a wide range of marine safety items for commercial vessels, workboats and leisure craft, delivering reliable, traceable results aligned with manufacturer guidance and UK/MCA and international standards. Lifejacket servicing includes full strip-down, bladder inflation and leak checks, valve and oral tube testing, CO₂ cylinder weighing and re-arming, auto or manual trigger replacement, light and whistle checks, AIS or PLB integration checks where fitted, harness and webbing inspection, sprayhood and crotch strap condition, and repacking to the correct fold pattern.

For liferafts, including SOLAS and ISO 9650 types, we manage scheduled services such as inflation tests, leak and pressure hold checks, HRU and painter verification, vacuum sealing, survival pack renewal by date, and documented re-pack with seal integrity. Immersion suit servicing covers thorough visual examination, zipper and seal checks, pressure or leak testing where specified, glove and boot integrity, size and marking verification, and repacking ready for rapid deployment.

Beyond these core items, we service and check hydrostatic release units, EPIRBs and PLBs with function tests and battery or HRU changes per OEM schedules, as well as SARTs, lifebuoys and lights, danbuoys, throwlines and MOB recovery systems, heaving lines, boarding ladders and rescue slings.

Where required, we can coordinate calibration of portable gas detectors and inspection of portable fire extinguishers in line with applicable standards. All work is carried out using calibrated equipment, controlled procedures and competent personnel, with clear certificates and service records that support audits and onboard compliance.

We offer on-board attendance to minimise downtime or shore-based servicing at our facility, planning around class, flag and OEM requirements and advising on service intervals, typically annual for many items, and spares. Our reports detail the tasks completed, test results, parts replaced and any remedial actions, so you have confidence your safety gear will perform as intended. Whether preparing for surveys, refits or the new season, Lifting Gear and Safety provides dependable marine servicing that keeps your crew and passengers protected.
